Ashley Jamerson of Effingham is the 2016 Miss Effingham County Fair Queen.

Queen Ashley was crowned at the conclusion of a queen pageant that featured 14 contestants, 22 Little Misses, and at least an inch of rainfall less than four hours before the event began.

The show went on, though, in front of the grandstand at the fairgrounds at Altamont.

The new queen was crowned by retiring queen Kristina Neu. Queen Ashley will reign over the remainder of this year's fair and will compete in January in Springfield at the annual Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs. Whoever is crowned queen there will reign over the 2017 Illinois State Fair and DuQuoin State Fair.

Maria Lueken was first runner-up, Serena Strullmyer was second runner-up, and Anna Wines was third runner-up. Anna also won for high ticket sales among the contestants, and Serena won the People's Choice Award for the most monetary contributions to a contestant.

(2016 LITTLE MISS PIGTAIL MYRA CHRISTIE)

Just preceding the pageant was the Little Miss Pigtail competition sponsored by the Effingham County Pork Producers. Little Miss Pigtail for 2016 is Myra Christie, whose pigtails measured 29 inches long. She was crowned by last year's winner, Alana Jackson. First runner up was Kearia Arnold at 27-3/4 inches, and second runner up was Jaelyn Kuhns, whose pigtails measured 26-1/2 inches.
