It's a full day and night of activities, even on Sunday, at the 72nd Annual Effingham County Fair.

A church service will begin at 8:30am in the 4-H Arena. Mid-America Jumper will be back for one more day with inflatables from noon to 10pm. Rob Thompson will be back on the Free Stage with his magic show with performances at 2pm, 4pm and 6pm. The fair parade will reach the grandstand at 4:30pm. Master Showmanship is set for 5:30pm in the 4-H Arena.

The feature evening attraction will be country music singing star Joe Diffie with a performance at 8pm. Diffie's long list of hits includes "Third Rock from the Sun", "If the Devil Danced in Empty Pockets", "Honky Tonk Attitude", "John Deere Green", "Bigger Than the Beatles", "Pickup Man", and "Prop Me Up Beside the Jukebox If I Die".

Dylan Schneider will be the opening act at 7pm.

Today is also the first day of horse racing at this year's fair.

Post time is 1pm. Several heats of harness racing is scheduled, but it might be the final race of the day that will draw the most interest. The race will put some of the harness horses under saddle. This is reportedly the first time this has been tried in a paying competition in the state of Illinois.

Hear all of the race action today on 979XFM with Kurt Becker on the call. The rest of the week's race action will be heard on KJ Country 102.3.

The fair continues through Saturday at the fairgrounds at Altamont.
