(LARRY DEPOISTER, STANDING BESIDE HIS SISTER, SURVEYS THE DAMAGE DONE TO HIS HOME BY A FIRE FRIDAY MORNING)

Fire did damage to the home of Larry Depoister in Edgewood Friday.

Edgewood Bi-County firefighters were called to the home in the southeast part of Edgewood around 11am. The cause of the fire, which began in a bedroom, is uncertain, but Depoister said it could have been a window air conditioner. He said that was the only thing plugged in in that room.

No one was at home at the time of the fire; Depoister was visiting his sister in Beecher City, and they traveled to Edgewood as soon as they were notified.

Edgewood firefighters were assisted at the scene by firefighters from Watson, St. Peter and Farina, while Altamont firefighters staffed the Edgewood station. Firefighters confined the fire to the one room, but there was some smoke and water damage elsewhere. Firefighters had the fire out within an hour.
