Effingham Park Board commissioners approved the appropriations ordinance for the new fiscal year at this month's meeting.

The measure calls for total appropriations of $5,893,420, which is about in line with last year's appropriations.

The Board annexed the Joseph Koester Subdivision, a one-lot development off Outer Belt West, into the district, following the lead of the City. Typically, the Park District boundaries mirror those of the City.

The Board paid half the payment request of Poettker Construction on the Workman Sports and Wellness Complex. Half the amount requested was retained while answers are being sought about the paint used on the pools in the complex. The color has yellowed more than expected and Park District Director Jeff Althoff said trustees are seeking assurances that no further yellowing will occur. An update was also shared on progress on landscaping at the complex.

The matter of the lease for Evergreen Mini-Golf was tabled until the August meeting. Althoff said the Pikes, who hold the lease on the miniature golf course could not attend this month's meeting.
