Three people were injured in a crash on Illinois Routes 32/33 Wednesday evening.

The crash happened at 4:45pm in front of Witt's Smokehouse and Barbecue. Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports 17-year-old Ashley Shewmake of Effingham lost control of the vehicle she was driving. The vehicle ran off the south side of the highway onto the grass. The vehicle came back onto the highway then crossed the center turn lane and traveled into the westbound lanes, colliding with a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Dakota Curry of Effingham.

Shewmake and Curry were both injured, as was Curry's passenger, 18-year-old Cheyenne Lagrand of Altamont.

Shewmake was airlifted to Carle Hospital in Urbana for treatment of her injuries. Curry and Lagrand were both taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Shewmake was cited for improper lane usage.
