Effingham city police have arrested two Indianapolis residents on forgery charges, as part of an investigation into possible passing of counterfeit currency.

Illinois State Police were working with city police Wednesday on the case. Authorities reportedly were working on reports of the counterfeit bills turning up in several communities between Effingham and Indianapolis.

18-year-old Kyree Lamont Lacy and 24-year-old James Torrance Perkins were arrested Wednesday following an interview with local authorities.
