Consolidated Communications recently donated more than $33,000 to local schools in central Illinois, including a grant of $3,000 to the Effingham Unit 40 Education Foundation.

The grant award is from Consolidated’s Earning For Learning (EFL) Program, which began in 1993 and has since donated $3.5 million to central Illinois schools. Grant awards are focused on K-12 academic initiatives with new technology purchases and innovative learning programs and projects.

“Consolidated Communications has a long history of helping our schools through our Earning For Learning Program with investments in technology and other programs for enhanced learning opportunities,” said Michael Smith, chief marketing officer at Consolidated Communications. “As a company, we are pleased to support our teachers and schools in the communities we serve.”

Effingham Foundation member Laurie Borrelli represented the foundation at a reception at the company’s Mattoon headquarters and accepted the check.

Effingham schools have received more than $232,000 in funding from the EFL program to enhance educational opportunities for students through technology and innovative learning.
