Semi Strikes Bicyclist in Clay County

A Flora man was injured when struck by a semi while riding his bicycle in Clay County over the weekend.

34-year-old Derek A. Bailey was riding his bicycle close to the white line along US 50, off the laned portion of the highway. The rig, driven by 42-year-old Curt J. Szentgyorgyikiss of Xenia, struck Bailey, causing him to be thrown off the bicycle into a ditch. Bailey was airlifted by Air Evac for treatment.

The semi driver was cited for failure to yield.

The incident occurred at 6:54am Sunday about 2-1/2 miles west of Flora.
