Jasper County Board members have approved pay increases for non-union employees.

The increase is retroactive to the start of the county fiscal year on December 1, 2015. An exception will be five employees who received an increase this year. Ambulance and part-time Sheriff's Department employees are not included, but it does include Health Department employees.

The Jasper board approved an agreement with the County Extension Office for the collection of their tax levy of $62,000. The new Extension fiscal year matches that of the state, which is July 1.

Board members discussed asking county churches to open board meetings with prayer. The state's attorney will research the matter.

The sheriff's committee reported that there are still some radio dispatching problems, and some staffing issues even with the addition of part-time help. The Board contracted with Martinsville Roofing to do repairs on the Courthouse roof in Newton for about $73,000.
