State Police Report Accidents in Jasper County, Clay County

Illinois State Police reported an ATV accident in Jasper County Sunday at 2:40 a.m.

Dominic A. Ginder and passenger, Allyson M. Mitchell were on a 2013 Honda ATV-4 Wheeler and Dusty R. Lindemann and his passenger, Chelsea L. Presley, were on a 2003 Honda ATV 4-Wheeler and were traveling westbound on 675 N. at approximately 1/2 mile west of 1725 N.

The Ginder ATV was following the Lindemann ATV and both traveling in the roadway. Ginder's front passenger wheels struck Lindemann's rear driver side wheel. Ginder's unit went out of control and both Ginder and his passenger Mitchell fell off the ATV, striking the roadway. Neither individual was wearing a helmut.

Ginder was transported to Carle Clinic in Champaign while Mitchell was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Ginder was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper operation of a non-vehicle, following too closely and operating an uninsured vehicle on the roadway.

Lindemann was charged with improper operation of a non-vehicle, illegal transportation of alcohol and operating an uninsured vehicle on the roadway.

Illinois State Police reported an accident with injuries occurred Saturday afternoon at 12:52 at the intersection of Route 50 and the Clay City Blacktop in Clay City.

The preliminary investigation indicates a black Ford Explorer driven by Phillip H. Hartke, 68, of Teutopolis, was traveling north on the Clay City Blacktop, stopped and then proceeded across Route 50 in front of a Dodge Caravan driven by Steven W. Pride, 43, of Flora. As a result of the collision, both units left the roadway coming to a stop in the ditch on the northside of the intersection.

Hartke, as well as all occupants of the Steven Pride vehicle, which included Stephanie Pride, 37, Cheyenne Pride, 12, and Wyatt Pride, 8, all of Flora were transported to Clay County Hospital.

Hartke was cited for disobeying a traffic control device.
