HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital knows that education and technology play major roles in building and sustaining a healthy community. St. Anthony’s recently launched a Go! Healthy section on its website.

The first phase of the Web page, “Go! Kids”, is designed for parents to use to interact with their younger children ages approximately seven to nine. This information is designed to educate and instill habits that lead to increased physical activity levels, as well as teach valuable nutritional and safety lessons that can be used throughout their lives. The educational information includes worksheets, recipes and activity logs a family may work on together.

“The information on this Web page may be used as a tool for you and your family’s health,” said Theresa Rutherford, HSHS St. Anthony’s president and CEO. “Our goal is to be your health partner by providing education on the importance of nutrition, physical activity and safety. As always, if you require medical care, St. Anthony’s is here to provide you with exceptional health care services,” she said.

St. Anthony’s has also partnered with the Effingham Public Library to encourage kids to Go! Healthy. A drawing participation contest is being held for children from ages 5 to 12. Kids are invited to create a drawing of their favorite healthy summer activity by July 16. For rules and to pick up a submission form, visit the 2nd floor Children’s Desk at the Effingham Public Library during business hours or St. Anthony’s front lobby desk between 7 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. In addition, the hospital is providing wellness programs for children at the library. Signup is available on the library website under Events.
