A car collided head-on with two motorcycles in Marion County late Monday night, killing two and injuring two more people.

State police report the car driven by 37-year-old Roy C. Albert of Salem was traveling south on Illinois 37, just north of Kell, when the car ran off onto the right shoulder. Police say Albert overcorrected and entered the northbound lane of the highway, striking the cycles operated by 50-year-old Terry D. Hatcher and 57-year-old Stephen D. Jackson, both of Centralia.

Hatcher and his passenger, 49-year-old Rhonda R. Hatcher of Centralia, were both taken to Salem Township Hospital. Jackson was flown to St. Louis University Hospital. Albert was also injured and was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia.

Police report Terry Hatcher and Rhonda Hatcher died of the injuries they received in the crash.

Albert was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash, which occurred at 10:01pm Monday.
