The friends of Ashla Owens are planning to say goodbye at a candlelight vigil Wednesday night.

The 20-year-old Owens was found dead in her apartment Monday afternoon.  Lauren Logsdon, who said Ashla was her best friend, was one of those who found her.

City Police Chief Mike Schutzbach said authorities are waiting on toxicology tests to complete their investigation into the death.

Logsdon said that if drugs were involved as is suspected, no one was aware that they had been a problem for Ashla.  She said that if Ashla's friends could say or do something that would cause someone to speak up about a struggle they're having, it could make a difference.

Logsdon is helping organize a candlelight vigil in Ashla's memory.  The vigil will begin at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Community Park. This is a change from the original scheduled at the Effingham Village Apartments where Ashla lived. Anyone is invited to take along a candle to light in Ashla's memory and said they're taking along photos and plan to tell stories about Ashla and what a friend she was to many.

You can contact Lauren Logsdon for more information at 217-994-2701.
