Effingham Woman Injured in Crash Near Beecher City

An Effingham woman was injured in a crash near Beecher City over the Memorial Day weekend.

44-year-old Emily Arnold was traveling south on Illinois 128, about a mile north of Beecher City, when the incident happened. 

A witness told Illinois State Police that Arnold's vehicle swerved and changed lanes into oncoming traffic multiple times. The vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a ditch where it came to rest.

Arnold was injured in the crash and was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. Arnold was cited for DUI drugs, improper lane usage, possession of controlled substance and no insurance.

The crash happened at 8:05pm Sunday.
