Two teenagers were killed and another was injured in a single-vehicle crash near Hindsboro in Douglas County Sunday afternoon.

Douglas County Chief Deputy Sheriff Greg Dixon said the crash occurred at 2:01pm on a county road about 1-1/4 miles northeast of Hindsboro. Dixon said a car driven by 18-year-old Carlito Molina of Hindsboro was eastbound at what witnesses termed a high rate of speed when the car ran off the right side of the road. Molina overcorrected and came back across the roadway. The car rolled over three or four times, ejecting all three occupants before coming to rest in a field.

A passenger, 15-year-old Amberlyn Humes of rural Oakland, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Molina was airlifted to Carle Hospital in Urbana, where he later died of his injuries. A second passenger, 16-year-old Lexi Hughes of Oakland, was injured and was taken to Carle.

Dixon said no other factors appeared to be involved in the crash, other than the rate of travel and that no one in the vehicle appeared to have been wearing seat belts.
