One Person Injured in Crash Northwest of Effingham on Routes 32/33

One person was injured in a collision northwest of Effingham Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened on Illinois 32/33 at Stoneridge Drive. A pickup truck pulling a trailer load of rock was slowing to turn off the highway onto Stoneridge. A following car did not slow and drove onto the trailer. Both units skidded off the roadway into a ditch, with the car coming to rest on the truck trailer.

The driver of the car, 37-year-old Shannon M. Smith of Shumway, was injured and was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. The driver of the truck, 27-year-old Ryan Matthew Chamberlain of Teutopolis, was not injured.

Smith was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash, which occurred at 1:35pm.
