An early morning fire destroyed a non-residence building Sunday morning in Teutopolis.
A shop and machine shed on the property of Bill Funneman, located at 16965 E. 1700th Avenue north of T-town, were fully engulfed when Teutopolis fire personnel reached the scene at 3:40 a.m.
Firefighting crews, which included tanker trucks from Montrose and Sigel, were on the scene for about two hours. Unfortunately, the building and its contents -- which included three antique tractors, a utility tractor and woodworking tools -- were a total loss.
Tim McMahon, fire chief for Teutopolis Fire Protection District, says the cause of the fire is yet undetermined, although he suspects lightning might have initiated the blaze.
