Lake Land Board Elects Officers, Seats New Student Trustee

Gary Cadwell of Mode has been re-elected chairman of the Lake Land College Board of Trustees.

Cadwell, the retired superintendent of schools at Cowden-Herrick, has served on the Lake Land board since 2009.

Dave Storm of Effingham was elected Vice-Chairman of the board, succeeding Dr. Robert Luther of Mattoon, and Doris Reynolds of Mattoon, replaced Storm as board secretary.

Meanwhile, Jensyn Morrison of Cowden was seated as the new student trustee. The Cowden-Herrick High School graduate succeeds Adam Doty of Beecher City as student trustee. She will serve a one-year term.

Lake Land trustees have also voted to endorse an extension in the life of the Village of Dieterich TIF District. TIF districts allow increases in property tax values in the district to use for improvement projects within the district. All affected taxing bodies have to endorse the extension before the State will consider approving it.
