A group of Cumberland High School students would like to carry water bottles with them throughout the school day. They spoke about the issue at the recent Cumberland School Board meeting.

The speakers included Harvey Norris, Tachel Brown, Olivia Ross and Kierstan Ault. Points they made included the health benefits of having water to drink during the day, the struggle between some teachers who let students go to the water fountain and those who don't, and the need for sufficient water fountains in the school building.

Students suggested selling water bottles with the Cumberland "C" on them and requiring that only those bottles be used during the school day. They also addressed someone at the grade school who brought alcohol into the building and that penalties should be stiffened for such an offense to deter others.

School Board President Jack Ingram thanked the students for their efforrts and directed the board's policy committee to research the issue and bring back a recommendation to the full Board.
