"Uneventful".

That's how Sunday's visit by members of the Westboro Baptist Church to Casey was described by local police.

The protesters reportedly were headed east to pick up a church member and chose Casey as a place to picket. They visited outside St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Casey First Baptist Church and Casey United Methodist Church before heading on their way.

There was also a group of "anti-Westboro protesters" present including some military veterans, community members and student groups from Olney Central College and Eastern Illinois University.

Meanwhile, most citizens of Casey went on about their usual Sunday morning routine, which is what Casey Police Chief Mark Jenkins had encouraged while preparing for the incident.
