Two semis collided Tuesday afternoon on Effingham's north side, slowing interstate traffic for a time.

The crash happened at 4:50pm near the north tri-level where northbound I-57 and eastbound I-70 separate. Illinois State Police report a rig driven by 70-year-old Barbara Jorgensen of Two Rivers, Wisconsin was traveling in heavy rainfall near a rig driven by 61-year-old Alexander Giambra of Bradenton, Florida. Giambra's rig struck the rear of Jorgensen's trailer, causing Jorgensen's rig to strike a concrete barrier.

A passenger in the Jorgensen semi, James K. Jorgensen, was injured and was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Giambra was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
