One person was killed Sunday morning in a crash on Illinois 37, a half-mile north of Mason.

One of the drivers in the crash, Jason E. Hazzard of Edgewood, was the person killed. Illinois State Police report Hazzard's pickup truck was southbound at 6:15am in very foggy conditions. The pickup drifted across the center line and struck the driver's side of a southbound utility bucket lift pickup driven by Michael J. Logan of Farina. After the impact, Hazzard's pickup truck spun counterclockwise approximately 180 degrees and ended up facing north in the northbound lane. Logan's truck ran off to the right and traveled more than 80 feet in a ditch.

Hazzard was pronounced dead at the scene. Logan was not injured and declined any medical treatment on scene.

Illinois State Police and the Effingham County Coroner's Office are investigating the crash.

Illinois Route 37 at the scene was closed for several hours after the crash.
