Mayor Jeff Bloemker presented a proclamation to the Telecommunicators of the City of Effingham for National Public Safety Telecommunications Week April 10-16.

The Mayor said, "The Telecommunicators employed with the City of Effingham are dedicated and valuable to the operation of police, fire and emergency medical services. When an emergency occurs, the prompt response in aiding the emergency responders includes the assistance of our 911 Telecommunicators."

Telecommunicators are behind the scene but are the true first responders and vital link, providing information and ensuring safety to the citizens as well as the police, fire and medical personnel. Every Telecommunicator exhibits compassion, understanding, and professionalism during the performance of their job. They handle all types of phone calls; from a complaint about a neighbor, a baby not breathing, a stalled vehicle, smoke in a residence, to family finding a loved one that has passed.

The Mayor thanked the Telecommunicators for their diligence and dedication in keeping our City and residents safe and expressed his appreciation and support of the Effingham City Police Department Telecommunicators.
