(STEERING COMMITTEE MEMBERS OF 100 WOMEN WHO CARE EFFINGHAM COUNTY MELISSA WILLENBORG AND KAREN ETTER ARE EXCITED FOR THURSDAY'S INAUGURAL MEETING WHEN MORE THAN $10,000 WILL BE CONTRIBUTED TO A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION IN EFFINGHAM COUNTY)

The newly established Effingham County giving circle, 100+ Women Who Care Effingham County, will make its first contribution to a local non-profit organization on Thursday, April 14 at the Holiday Inn (1301 Avenue of Mid-America) in Effingham. Doors will open for registration and a social hour at 5 p.m. with a meeting to follow at 6 p.m. As members register, they have the opportunity to nominate a local non-profit organization serving Effingham County. During the meeting, three nominations will be randomly drawn and the nominating member will have five minutes to speak about a local non-profit organization. Once the presentations are made, members will vote to decide which organization will receive the collected funds for that evening.

“We currently have 107 members in our group, which means we will be awarding $10,700 to the organization that is selected,” explains Karen Etter, steering committee member. She adds, “with every new member, the value of our gift increases, making an even greater impact on our community!”

100+ Women Who Care Effingham County, a program of Effingham County Community Foundation, is a group of local philanthropic women dedicated to making a positive impact on Effingham County and through contributions of financial support to tax-exempt charitable organizations serving Effingham County. This includes organizations affiliated with a fiscal agency such as the Effingham County Community Foundation, local school programs, and government agencies.

Only paid members will be allowed to participate in Thursday’s events but guests are welcome to observe. Any guest who would like to join 100+ Women Who Care Effingham County that evening may do so and will need to pay the membership fee in addition to the award check they will write that evening. Membership dues are $100 which contributes to the 100+ Women Who Care Effingham County Endowment, a fund with Effingham County Community Foundation for future community needs. After joining, members attend three quarterly meetings and are able to make nominations, vote for recipients, and make contributions to selected non-profits.

Effingham County Community Foundation is an affiliate of Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation, a regional 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization that manages more than 130 funds and oversees the administrative and technical functions of five affiliate foundations in Mattoon and Effingham, Jasper, Crawford, and Clark counties.
