St. Anthony High School Spanish Scholar Bowl teams earned first place in both A and B level contests.

The Spanish Scholar Bowl competition was part of the 44th annual Foreign Language Day program hosted by the Department of Languages, Cultures, and International Trade at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale on March 31.

The Scholar Bowl competition is in the form of a question-and-answer game played between two teams with the winner advancing to the next round. Level B teams include students with more than two years of Spanish education, and Level A teams include students with up to two years of Spanish education.

Team coach, Mrs. Fanny Mae Keller, recruited students from her Spanish I through Spanish IV classes. Members of the St. Anthony B team include Captain Nick Grunloh, Allison Spraul, Andy Saba, Gillian Erickson & Abby Buenker. Team A members include Captain Maryann Saba, Alex Beesley, Jack Nuxoll, Kendall Fonner, Reese Buenker, Avery Elder and Carly Spraul.
