Probst Hired as New Effingham City Police Officer

Jared Probst was introduced to the Effingham City Council Tuesday night as the newest city police officer.

Probst is the oldest son of Rick Probst and Margo Probst and is an Island Grove native, born on a farm. He moved to Mt. Zion, then came back to Effingham and graduated from Effingham High School in 2009. He's a Lake Land College graduate and graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology/Criminal Justice with minors in Sociology and Forensic Science in 2013.

Probst worked for the Taylorville Police Department for just over a year before being hired by the City of Effingham.
