Today is Deadline to Apply for Unit 40 Board Vacancy

Today is the deadline to apply for a vacant seat on the Effingham Unit 40 Board of Education.

The vacancy occurred when former member Laurie King Borrelli moved out of the district. The person appointed will serve until the April 2017 Board election.

Applicants for the vacancy must be a US citizen at least 18 years of age, be a resident of Illinois and the Unit 40 school district for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment, be a registered voter, not be a child sex offender, not hold another incompatible public office, not have a prohibited interest in any contract with the district, not be a school trustee, and not hold certain types of prohibited state or federal employment.

Applicants should show familiarity with the Board's policies regarding general duties and responsibilities of a school board and a school board member.

A letter of interest along with a statement of why you wish to become a Unit 40 board member must be turned into the Board Office at 2803 South Banker in Effingham by 3pm today.
