Just after 8am Saturday, the Effingham County Sheriff's Office was notified of a woman acting suspiciously in the southeast part of the county near Elliotstown. The woman was reportedly entering people's sheds and knocking on doors at several residences. Responding deputies determined the woman was impaired and as a result had driven her vehicle into a nearby ditch.

Further investigation determined that Lewis was allegedly in possession of stolen property and had been involved in a criminal damage to property, a residential burglary and a hit-and-run property damage accident at three separate nearby residences.

As a result of the investigation, Lewis was taken into custody on counts of DUI drugs, driving while her license is suspended, possession of a controlled substance, residential burglary, criminal damage to property, and leaving the scene of a property damage accident. Lewis is being held in Effingham County Jail on $50,000 bond.

Effingham County deputies were assisted by the Clay County Sheriff's Office.
