Two Injury Crashes Over Weekend in City

Two crashes resulting in injuries were investigated by Effingham City Police over the weekend.

Two people were injured in a crash at 8:44pm Saturday at Fayette and Maple. Police report a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Santa Flores-Martinez of Effingham struck a vehicle driven by 69-year-old Carolyn Hartranft of Mahomet, causing Hartranft's vehicle to strike a vehicle driven by 42-year-old Stacey Walk of Sigel.

A passenger in Flores-Martinez's vehicle, seven-year-old Elvin Flores-Martinez of Effingham, was injured and was taken by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. A passenger in Walk's vehicle, 11-year-old Claire Walk of Sigel, was injured, but refused treatment.

No citations were issued in the crash.

Another crash was reported at 1206 Avenue of Mid America at 2:35pm Sunday.

A scooter driven by 31-year-old Amber McCord of Effingham struck an ATM machine. McCord was injured and was taken by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital.

McCord was cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
