South Central school board members Wednesday got good numbers on their grade school expansion project.

Superintendent Kerry Herdes and Jon Carroll of Poettker Construction reported on final bills from the expansion. The project came in $96,000 under budget, and those funds can now be applied against the South Central High School addition. The district is waiting on the release of capital development funds from the State that have been promised on the high school project.

Board members were pleased that the grade school project not only stayed on budget, but resulted in savings.

Also Wednesday, the South Central board set middle school promotion exercises for May 12, while the high school graduation will take place on May 13. The last day of school is set for May 16 if there are no other snow days.

In personnel moves, the South Central board approved an additional leave of absence for Lonnie Tipsword, approved Rick Batchelor as a volunteer assistant coach for high school softball for this season; accepted a resignation from Lucas Krutsinger as 5th and 6th grade basketball coach; and accepted a resignation from Holly Ritter, certified employee for the district.
