Jasper County States Attorney Announces Candidacy

Jasper County State's Attorney Chad M. Miller has announced he is seeking election this November. Miller was appointed to the office on February 26, 2015.

Miller said in making the announcement, "I have enjoyed serving the people of Jasper County in the office of State's Attorney, which continues to be an honor privilege."

Miller, the son of Larry and Cheryl Miller of Olney, was raised in Richland County, graduating from East Richland High School and Olney Central College, where he was the valedictorian. Miller has a number of relatives in Jasper County and began his residency in Jasper County on his first day in office.

"I grew up a neighbor to Jasper County with many loved ones and relatives residing here, and now I am happy to be a resident of Jasper County," Miller said. Miller is married to the former Jaclyn Dust, who was raised in Effingham, and has two children, Lincoln and Josephine, and two dogs.

Miller graduated from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale Summa cum Laude, with a degree in History Education and obtained his teaching certificate. After a brief teaching career, he entered law school at SIU Carbondale and graduated in 2009.

Previously, Miller served as an Assistant State's Attorney in Hamilton County while a law student. He also worked as a Coles County Assistant State's Attorney and then left that position to work for the Illinois State's Attorney's Appellate Prosecutor's Office as a Special Felony Drug Prosecutor. He worked in the law offices of Bob Dunst in Mattoon until he came to Jasper County.

Miller is a member of the Newton Rotary Club and the Sons of the American Legion Squad #20. Miller has been active in local Autism Awareness supportive of St. Thomas Catholic Church and School in Newton as well as other local organizatons and activities.
