A sentencing hearing is set for March 3 for a former Watson man who has pleaded guilty to predatory criminal sexual assualt of a child.

31-year-old Timothy R. Beck admitted to sexual contact with an eight-year-old boy last August. The boy told family members about actions over a five-month period and the family contacted police.

Effingham County State's Attorney Bryan Kibler said the boy's family was okay with the plea bargain, since it spared the boy from testifying in court. Beck faces a minimum of six years and a maximum of 25 years in prison.

Beck pleaded guilty after Kibler said that more charges could arise if the case proceeded to trial.
