In its first day of operation, the Richard E. Workman Sports and Wellness Complex is already a busy place.

The Complex has been under construction since last year and the aquatics complex won't be completed until March, but Effingham Park District Director Jeff Althoff said they wanted to get the Complex open so people could use it.

Hours of operation are 5am to 10pm weekdays and 6am to 8pm Saturdays and Sundays.

The main floor features a court ready for either basketball or volleyball on the east and the aquatics complex on the west, which will feature a competitive lap pool, a recreational pool that will also be used by HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital for physical therapy, and areas for the kids including sprays and a lazy river.

The upper level features fitness equipment and a three-lane walking and running track as well as seating for competitive events at the lap pool.

Also a part of the Complex is an office area for the hospital to operate their therapy services.

Greg and Wayne visited the Workman Complex Monday morning and talked with General Manager Jake Junghanel and Fitness Director and Director of Sales Beth Heuerman about what people can enjoy in the Complex.
