No action could be taken Thursday on two capital improvement projects being undertaken at Stewardson-Strasburg schools.

One project is nearing completion, involving renovation of the high school lobby restroom. Some final paperwork hasn't been received by the District, so the project can't be wrapped up.

The other project is being proposed, involving renovation of the grade school restrooom. Superintendent Michele Lindenmeyer said they're waiting on word from the State whether the District has been approved for the sale of zero interest bonds to finance the work.

Stew-Stras board members discussed fees and the calendar for next school year, but took no action on either item until more input is received. The Board also discussed school-sponsored activities taking place on Wednesdays. Some members view Wednesday as Church Night or Family Night, but there were a couple of events held on Wednesdays around Christmas. The Board has asked that Wednesdays around Christmas and Easter be kept free of school events.

Lindenmeyer reported that the District's financial profile has increased from 3.45 the past two years to 3.8 this year. 3.45 left the District in the Financial Review category while a 3.8 score lifts the District to the Financial Recognition category. 4.0 is the best score a district can receive.

The Stew-Stras board approved three coaching assignments for next school year; Scott Dow as co-op golf coach, Ronda Schlechte as co-op head volleyball coach, and Marsha Friedrich as co-op assistant volleyball coach. The Windsor school board also to approve those hirings for them to be finalized. The Windsor board at their meeting on January 25. The Stew-Stras board also hired Sheryl Rincker as a temporary aide for the balance of the current school year.
