No Additional Information on Bomb Threat Wednesday at Mattoon Middle School

Mattoon police say there is nothing additional to report concerning a bomb threat Wednesday at Mattoon Middle School.

School officials followed their emergency protocol and evacuated all students and staff members from the building after the threat was received a little after 3pm. Mattoon police completed a thorough search of the building and dismissed the threat as a dangerous prank.

Students were allowed back into the school building just in time for the regular dismissal time.

Mattoon Deputy Police Chief Jason Taylor said the matter remains under investigation.
