Effingham Water Authority trustees have moved ahead with purchase of a leaf vac. The purchase is related to efforts to ban burning on property in the Authority territory.

Trustee Chairman Rob Brown reported a check for $18,444.50 was received from a clean air initiative group towards the cost of a leaf vac. Trustees voted to purchase a leaf vac for $27,500 with the Authority covering the balance of the cost.

Trustees voted to amend the lease for Bluegill Marina to allow gambling or games of chance to be installed and operated on the premises. The operator will have to proof of licensing to operate the games.

All other commercial leaseholders wanting to amend their lease to allow gambling or games of chance will also need approval from the Board.

The trustees voted to deny a request to allow automated boat covers along Lake Sara and accepted a proposal from SDS Computers to develop a website for the Water Authority.

Trustees heard from Brian Larson on marina improvements and changes. Larson said the marina would now be called ""Larson's Landing". The improvements will include a new restaurant and bar called "Pinky's" scheduled to open in May. Dockside Repair and Service, operated by George Willis, doing smaller boat and motor repairs is now open. A couple of events are scheduled for The Stage this summer. Larson also reported future plans include transitional camping sites.

Trustees heard from Water Authority Attorney Tony Siemer on a rumor of a new hog farm operation north of Lake Sara near the Illinois 32/33 split, and also on legislation involving water authorities.
