Making Meth in a Cemetery

Two individuals have been arrested for allegedly manufacturing methamphetamine in a cemetery.

The incident happened in Griffith Cemetery near Brownstown. Fayette County State's Attorney Josh Morrison said an off-duty Fayette County sheriff's deputy was driving by the cemetery and noticed some activity. The off-duty deputy contacted the sheriff's department. The responding deputies caught the suspects still in the act of cooking the meth. More than 390 grams of meth was reportedly seized.

The suspects are 26-year-old Kala McMain of Effingham and 32-year-old Kevin Cook of Vandalia. Each was charged with Class X felonies of manufacture of between 100 and 400 grams of meth, and possession of the same quantities, as well as Class 2 felony counts of possession of meth manufacturing materials.

Cook's bond was set at $100,000, while bond for McMain was set at $75,000. They are next due in court on February 2.
