A Ste. Marie man has died after his ATV overturned in flood waters.

Jasper County Sheriff Rick Britton said 70-year-old Frank C. Miller was found in his side-by-side by some passersby. Authorities were notified at 4:28pm Thursday that the passersby had spotted a wheel above the flood waters and when they saw lug nuts on the wheel they stopped to investigate. Britton said the passersby located the ATV and rolled it back onto its wheels and found Miller inside. The sheriff said there was an enclosed cab on the unit that would've made it difficult for Miller to escape.

Jasper County Coroner Jason Meyer pronounced Miller dead at the scene at 5pm. Miller was alone in the vehicle.

Britton said the incident occurred at County Roads 050 North and 2050 East in the Rafetown Bridge area, near the Richland County line.
