The Effingham High School Homecoming Parade is still on for tonight.

The parade will step off at 6pm behind 5th/3rd Bank and will travel west on Jefferson Avenue (the wrong way) through downtown, ending at the high school.

Retired Effingham High School Principal Mike McCollum will serve as parade marshal.  Eight retired Unit 40 staffers will be in the parade, being recognized by the Effingham Unit 40 Foundation.

The procession will also contain club and class floats, the football teams and JFL squads and cheerleaders, some of the other fall sports squads and the junior high and high school bands.

However, due to the inclement weather, tonight's scheduled cookout downtown on the lawn of the old Courthouse for the Effingham County Cultural Center and Museum Association has been rained out.
