Both drivers were injured in a two-vehicle crash on the Dieterich/Clay City Blacktop Wednesday evening.

The crash was reported at 5:19pm, and occurred about two miles south of Dieterich.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports 63-year-old Carolyn Tharp of Carlyle was headed northbound when her car drove across the centerline and struck a southbound car driven by 43-year-old Melissa Lybarger of Newton. Both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles and both were taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham with serious injuries.

Tharp was cited for improper lane usage.

The Dieterich/Clay City Blacktop was closed for some time due to the crash.
