Reis Urges Drivers to Sign Up for License Sticker Notices

State Representative David Reis (R-Willow Hill) is reminding motorists that Secretary of State Jesse White’s office will no longer be mailing notifications to vehicle owners reminding them to renew their license plate stickers. Reis says the New Year is a good time to sign up online for the notices.

“Due to budget cuts and the overall lack of a state budget, the Secretary of State has said they will no longer be mailing out notices for license plate sticker renewals,” Reis said. “Instead, they are urging motorists to visit their website to sign up for e-mail notifications.”

Reis is encouraging motorists to visit www.ilsos.gov/greenmail to request their sticker renewal notice be emailed to them.

“The mailed notices were a convenient way to remind drivers they needed to renew their registration,” Reis said. “With the cuts to the Secretary of State’s budget they just simply can’t afford mailed notices anymore. I’m encouraging everyone if possible to sign up to receive an email notification to help avoid late charges or a potential issue if a driver is stopped by law enforcement and has an expired registration.”

Drivers are reminded that in order to sign up they will need their registration card, which has their registration ID number and PIN number. A valid email address is also required. For motorists that do not renew their vehicle sticker on time, a $20 additional fee will apply. A link to the Secretary of State’s email notification sign up page is available at www.davidreis.org
