Two Die Due to Flooding in Christian County

Two Edinburg residents died due to flooding outside that community.

The victims were identified as 46-year-old Cindy Dexheimer and 49-year-old Robert E. Gordon II.

Autopsies were conducted Tuesday and both deaths resulted from drowning. The van in which the two were last seen was spotted by an Illinois State Police Air Operations aircraft. The van, mostly submerged, was visible only from the air and was located about 40 yards from where the bodies were found.

The bodies were located by a Christian County sheriff's deputy about 10am Tuesday. Family members had reported the two missing, and authorities were able to locate them using location services on their cell phones.
