Salem Man Killed in Crash

A Salem man was killed in a crash Tuesday night.

The crash happened at 8:57pm on Illinois 37, two miles south of Salem at C.J. Heck Road. Illinois State Police report a pickup truck driven by 46-year-old Michael G. Becker was traveling southbound when the unit ran off the roadway into a steep ditch. The vehicle struck the ditch embankment and became airborne, then landed and proceeded into another steep ditch. The vehicle then rolled out of the ditch and came to rest in the southbound lane of traffic.

Becker was taken to Salem Township Hospital where he died from his injuries.
