The Effingham County Board Thursday awarded employee health insurance coverage to Health Alliance.
The vote came at a special meeting after Blue Cross Blue Shield declined to bid on the coverage. The Health Alliance coverage includes a 28% premium increase.
The Board is now working on the fiscal year county budget, factoring in the premium increase. The budget is on the agenda for approval at the Board's regular monthly meeting on Monday.
The Board also voted to award dental and vision insurance coverage to Guardian. County employees pay for the dental and vision coverage.
