South Central Board Approves Naming Gym for Gary Shirley

South Central school board members have approved the South Central Sports Boosters' request to name the high school gym in Farina.

The gym will be named the Coach Gary Shirley Memorial Gym, in memory of the school's longtime boys basketball coach. The naming ceremony is set for the Flora game on January 9.

The Board approved a tax levy 4.98% higher than the previous year, and contracted with Glass and Shuffett to conduct the audit of the past fiscal year's books.

In personnel moves, the South Central board approved a leave for Christie Welch and for Renae Meyer, approved Brittany and Shawn Garrett as volunteer assistant coaches for 5th and 6th grade basketball, and approved Carissa Lotz as a volunteer cheer coach at the high school.
