Ameren Alerting Residents of Scam

Ameren Illinois is alerting area residents to another scam.

According to Ameren, a caller is contacting people at random, demanding payment by prepaid card, and saying if people don't pay, their utility service will be disconnected.

If you are contacted, contact your police department and phone Ameren, toll-free, at 1-800-755-5000.

Again, this is a scam.
