Teutopolis school board members Monday night passed a tax levy for the coming fiscal year about 10.37% higher than what was actually extended for taxes last year.

Several school districts are looking at larger increases since P-TELL and other tax increase limiting measures are being explored by the State as well as by tax watchdog groups.

The Teutopolis board also discussed qualified school construction bonds, and passed a resolution declaring their intent to issue up to $500,000 in working cash fund bonds to increase the District's working cash fund.

Board members also discussed employee health insurance, and voted to purchase a new minivan for just under $20,000 from Goeckner Brothers in Effingham.

The Teutopolis board approved the resignation of Lewis Martin as high school boys golf coach, hired Steve Fritcher as seventh grade volleyball coach, and hired Steve Niemeyer as a fulltime bus driver.

Teutopolis board members also accepted the recommendation of Band Director Melissa Orndorff to name the high school band room in honor of one of her predecessors, Craig Lindvahl.
