Cowden-Herrick Board Approves Teacher Contract

Cowden-Herrick school board members have approved a three-year contract agreement with the Cowden-Herrick Teachers Association. The agreement is retroactive to the start of the current school year.

The vote to approve was 5-2, with Greg Jones and Luke Nohren voting No.

The board then approved the salary for the district bookkeeper with a 2% pay raise and a boost in insurance assistance

Board members accepted Terri Hadley's resignation as of February 12, 2016, and authorized Superintendent Darrell Gordon to advertise for a Unit secretary and bookkeeper and Cowden-Herrick Elementary secretary.

The Board agreed to reinstate transportation to the Bridges alternative education program in Shelbyville; approved a revised detention policy in the junior/senior high school handbook, and approved the Bobcat mascot emblem as of the 2016-17 school year. Also approved was additional maintenance work on the Herrick building at Christmas break as well as health and life safety work including exterior high school gym door replacement, LED lighting in the high school halls, and better cameras in the Herrick building.
