One person was killed in a crash south of Teutopolis Friday evening.

25-year-old Cory J. Anderson of Effingham was traveling south on the Teutopolis-Elliotstown blacktop just before 6pm. State police report Anderson stopped at the intersection and then attempted to cross Illinois Route 33. Anderson's car was struck broadside on the driver's side by a pickup truck driven by a 16-year-old male from Newton. The impact caused both vehicles to end up in the ditch on the south side of the highway.

Anderson was taken to Carle Hospital in Urbana where he was pronounced dead at 9:06pm.

The driver of the pickup truck was not injured, nor were his passengers, a 17-year-old male from Newton and 21-year-old Andrea Phillips of Newton.

No citations were issued. An autopsy was being conducted Saturday to officially determine the cause of death.
