Start of Holiday Lights Judging Delayed to Saturday

Effingham Tourism Director Jodi Thoele has announced the start of judging in the "Holiday Lights and Festive Sights" Christmas lighting contest has been delayed to Saturday.

Thoele said their photographer has been unable to complete photographing all of the finalist locations, but should complete the job today.

Meanwhile, the finalists have been announced in the competition. Here are the nominated locations:

CLASSIC CHRISTMAS--801 Shenandoah Avenue...29 Rollin Hills Boulevard...and 201 Santa Monica Avenue

CLARK GRISWOLD--805 East Jefferson Avenue...1205 West Temple Avenue...and 102 West Jaycee Avenue

REASON FOR THE SEASON--302 West Elm Street...507 East Market Avenue...and 703 North Cardinal Street

In addition, Taylor Law Offices at 3rd and Washington in downtown Effingham was nominated in the Business category.

Again, voting will open on Saturday, December 12 and continue through Thursday, December 17 at midnight. You may vote online at the Facebook page Visit Effingham or by dropping by the Visitors Center, which is open Monday through Saturday from 7:30am to 4:30pm. You can also pick up a map of the sites at the Visitors Center. A reminder that two winners will be drawn from those who vote to receive a $100 gift card at the Effingham business of their choice.
